2019 Rate Increase
Calaveras Public Utility District's primary income source comes from monthly water service fees, which are used to fund the overall operations and maintenance of the water system as well as rehabilitation and improvement of the District's aging water infrastructure.
The current rate structure has been in place since 2012 with the last increase in July 2016. The current rate structure is not sufficient to meet the budgetary needs of the District.
CPUD must comply with all federal and state standards. The District is subject to annual state inspections by the State Water Resources Control Board - Division of Drinking Water (SWRCB-DDW), Division of Safety of Dams (DSOD), and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to ensure infrastructure meets or regulatory and compliance standards. State and federal regulators increase requirements frequently, which increases the District's compliance costs and often requires continuous improvements to the District's infrastructure.
